OSRS Boss Guides

Gear setups, drop rates and what each boss is genuinely worth an hour, with every item priced against today's Grand Exchange instead of whenever the page was written.

Prices here are live

Every gear table on these pages prices itself off the Grand Exchange and refreshes daily. That is the whole reason they exist in this form.

A boss guide is mostly a shopping list, and a shopping list with two year old prices is not merely stale, it is confidently wrong about the one decision the reader came to make. A setup that quotes a Bandos chestplate at a price it has not traded at since the page was written will send somebody to the Grand Exchange with the wrong budget.

Prices on these pages were last refreshed on 2026-09-13.

The bosses

Four covered in depth so far, chosen because they are the ones most accounts actually work through in order. Vorkath is the first serious money boss for a lot of players once Dragon Slayer II is done. Zulrah pays the best of the four and asks the most in return, though what it asks for is pattern memory rather than gear. Cerberus and Alchemical Hydra are both Slayer-gated, which is the real barrier on each.

On drop rates and averages

Every drop rate quoted across these pages was read off the boss's own drop table rather than recalled, because getting one wrong is the fastest way to lose a reader who knows the game.

Averages get more care than they usually do. An average kill value that includes a 1 in 520 crystal is dragged upward by something you will see once every thirteen hours, so the Cerberus page gives both the figure with uniques and the figure without. That gap is the difference between a boss being worth your evening and not, and most guides quote only the flattering number.

Frequently asked questions

Which OSRS boss makes the most money?

Of the four covered here, Zulrah is the highest at upwards of 4.4m an hour before supplies at 35 kills an hour with maximum gear. That figure assumes you know the rotations cold, which is the entire difficulty of the fight.

What is the best boss for a mid-level account?

Vorkath, once Dragon Slayer II is done. It is forgiving of gear compared to most bosses at its profit level, the income floor is set by guaranteed drops rather than by rare ones, and a dragon hunter crossbow does most of the work.

Are the gear prices on these pages current?

Yes. They are pulled from the Grand Exchange and refreshed on a schedule, and were last updated on 2026-09-13. An item that has not traded recently shows a dash rather than a guess.

Do I need best in slot gear to start bossing?

No, and at several of these bosses it barely matters. Zulrah is beatable in mid-tier gear by someone who knows the rotations and unbeatable in best in slot by someone who does not. Vorkath cares about two items, the dragon hunter crossbow and an extended antifire, far more than about the rest of the setup.
