Five cards land, you keep the ones you like, and the rest are replaced from the same deck. A pair of jacks or better gets your stake back, two pair doubles it, and the table climbs from there to 500x for a royal flush. The one decision in the game is yours; everything it is made against was fixed before you saw a card.
How to play Video Poker
Set your stake and press Deal. Five cards come up.
Tap the cards you want to keep, or press 1 to 5. Anything not held is thrown.
Press Draw. Each thrown card is replaced from the top of the same deck, in order.
The table on the left pays the hand you finish with. A pair of jacks or better returns the stake; two pair pays 2x; a royal flush pays 500x.
The whole deck is shuffled from a hashed server seed the moment you deal. Rotate your seed at any time between hands to reveal it and rebuild every deck yourself.
About Video Poker
Video poker is the one casino game where a decision genuinely moves the return, which is why it has always attracted the players who like to think. The paytable here is 500 / 50 / 20 / 8 / 5 / 4 / 3 / 2 / 1. Played well it returns about 95% of what is staked, and the house edge published for it on this site is that measured figure rather than a marketing number.
What makes it honest online is the order of events. In a physical machine you trust the cabinet; here the fifty-two-card deck is shuffled from a server seed whose hash you can see before you deal, combined with a client seed you can set yourself. The five you are shown are the top of that deck, and the cards that replace your discards are the next ones down, in order. Nothing about the draw depends on what you chose to hold, and after you rotate the seed you can prove that for every hand it dealt.
Video Poker FAQ
What does Jacks or Better mean?
The lowest paying hand is a pair of jacks, queens, kings or aces, which returns your stake. A pair of tens or lower pays nothing.
Where do the replacement cards come from?
From the same fifty-two-card deck, in order, starting at the sixth card. Which cards you hold changes which positions are filled, never what is in them. The deck was fixed when you pressed Deal.
Is 500x for a royal flush good?
It is the table RuneChat runs, so it is directly comparable. A royal lands roughly once in forty thousand hands with sound play.
Can I play with RS3 gold?
Yes. RS3 GP is held as its own balance and can be staked on any game here, including this one.
