Elite clues are the best value per completed clue in the game. Here is what the casket pays and where that value actually comes from.
An elite reward casket averages around 252k, from five rolls worth roughly 50k each. That is double the hard tier per roll and the second richest table in the game.
The completed figure is the one that makes elites stand out: the casket carries a 1 in 5 chance of a master clue scroll, easily the best rate of any tier, and that pushes a completed elite clue to around 380k. No other tier gains as much from what it feeds into.
Every elite casket reward is below with its published rate per roll, its chance per casket over the four to six rolls, today's Grand Exchange price and what it adds to the average. The tables are regenerated from the published rates and repriced off the Grand Exchange on every deploy, so the numbers move with the market rather than with whenever somebody last edited the page.
Elites are the first tier where 3rd age is worth talking about, and the last column shows what that is really worth per casket once the rate is applied: a real slice of the average, and almost none of the typical open. The rest of the value is spread across the standard table more evenly than at any lower tier, which is why an elite open feels less swingy than a master.
Turn the Mimic toggle on in the calculator if you have enabled it at Watson's house. One casket in thirty five becomes a Mimic, and the extra roll it pays carries the best 3rd age rate anywhere in the game, which moves the average more than the toggle's size suggests.

Two places. The ordinary table is genuinely rich, so a typical elite casket pays well even when nothing special happens. And elites can drop third age pieces, which almost nothing else below master can.
The master clue rate is the other half of it. At 1 in 5, every five elites you finish is effectively a free master clue on top, and a master casket averages well over half a million. A meaningful share of the tier's real value is not in the elite casket at all, it is in what the elite casket hands you next.
For most accounts that can do them, this is the ceiling worth aiming at. Per completed clue it is the best paying tier in the game, and unlike masters it is something you can farm rather than something you wait for.
The cost is real though. Elite steps assume a well developed account and the travel is long, so the clue count per hour is low. That is the trade the whole tier turns on: fewer, slower, much better boxes.
A master casket averages around 637k against an elite's 252k, so per box the master is better by a wide margin. Per clue you can actually go out and do, the elite wins, because master clues are not farmable in the same way. You get them from the tiers below.
That relationship is why the two tiers are usually run together. Elites are the engine and masters are what the engine produces.
The Corrupted Gauntlet is the strongest method at 1 in 20 per completion, and it is the one to pick if you can run it comfortably. High gambling at Barbarian Assault beats it on paper at 1 in 15, and it is the best rate in the tier if you have a team to run it with.
The Barrows chest is 1 in 29 once all six brothers are dead, which makes it the most accessible good source in the tier and the one most accounts will use. You are also getting the rest of the Barrows loot while you do it.
Dragon impling jars work at 1 in 50, but this is the tier where the impling route stops making sense: the jars are expensive enough that you are paying somewhere around 16M per clue, which is far more than the casket is worth. Buy them for the speed, not for the value.
Elites also drop from high level monsters and from several skilling sources, so an account doing endgame content accumulates them without any deliberate farming.
